DisclosureTrail is built to store as little as possible. Here's exactly what happens to your data, section by section.
Everything you type into the free form on the homepage — client name, deliverable, AI tools used, reviewer name, dates, notes — stays in your browser. It's never sent to any server. The statement is generated by JavaScript running on your device, and the moment you close or refresh the tab without upgrading to Pro, it's gone. We have no way to see or recover a free statement you didn't save.
If you subscribe to DisclosureTrail Pro, the statements you generate are saved to a private database (hosted by Supabase) so you can search, retrieve, and share them later. That record includes the fields you enter into the form — client name, deliverable, AI tools used, reviewer name, dates, and notes — plus a unique verification reference and the license key associated with your subscription. This data is stored so the product can work (letting you find past statements and letting a client or reviewer verify one via its reference link); it is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, and it is not used to train any AI model. You can request deletion of your stored records at any time by emailing hello@disclosuretrail.com.
Subscription payments are processed by Freemius, our payment and licensing partner. DisclosureTrail never receives or stores your card number, billing address, or other payment credentials — those are handled entirely by Freemius, which is PCI-compliant. We receive only your license key, subscription plan, and status (active, cancelled, etc.) so we can unlock Pro features on your account. Traffic on this site is measured with Google Analytics (GA4), which uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, referral source, rough geography, and product actions like generating a statement or starting checkout. This helps us understand which parts of the tool are useful and improve them. Google Analytics does not receive the contents of any disclosure statement you generate. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using your browser's "Do Not Track" or cookie-blocking settings.
This site does not set cookies of its own beyond what's needed for the license/session state used to unlock Pro features in your browser. Google Analytics and Freemius may each set their own first-party or third-party cookies to do their jobs (measuring traffic, processing checkout, and preventing fraud). Neither is used to serve you ads based on your activity here.
