KDP Account Terminated Over AI Content? Here's the Real Appeal Path

"Violation of our content guidelines" or "manipulate our services" tells you almost nothing on its own. Two different problems get lumped under that wording, and your appeal needs to target the right one.

The two real causes, and how to tell them apart 1. Undisclosed AI-generated content — the book should have had the AI Content Disclosure box checked and didn't. 2. Quality/pattern enforcement — a burst of low-effort AI output (rapid uploads, thin editing, template-like structure) tripped KDP's automated quality systems, independent of disclosure. Check when the termination hit relative to your publishing pattern — a single book vs. a recent burst of titles is the biggest clue to which one you're actually facing.

What KDP's own guidelines say

KDP draws the same line described on our AI-assisted vs. AI-generated explainer: only content where AI produced the substantial majority requires disclosure. If your book was substantially written, edited, or directed by you, the correct answer in a Plan of Action is that it's AI-assisted, not AI-generated — and that's a materially different, stronger position than conceding an "AI content" violation wholesale.
