Flagged, suspended, or accused over AI? Build the appeal your platform actually reads.

Account suspended or terminated with no clear reason, flagged as AI when you weren’t, or a client accusing you of using AI without saying so? Get the real evidence checklist and a ready-to-send packet, formatted the way that specific platform actually reviews appeals — not a generic letter. Generating a routine AI-use disclosure instead? That’s below too.

Routine AI-use disclosure for a deliverable or listing — pick a mode above.

73% of agency contracts have no AI-specific clause — leaving a compliance gap as frameworks like the UK's ISBA/IPA guidance take hold. Close the gap in your next contract → (source)
4 marketplaces, four different disclosure formats — Etsy wants a toggle, Amazon ties it to AI-generated people in images, Redbubble and Merch by Amazon each phrase it differently. Undisclosed AI use is grounds for a listing takedown on every one of them. Don't guess at the wording — get it right the first time.

Flagged, suspended, or accused? Here’s what actually works

A self-written denial rarely convinces anyone — reviewers and clients respond to organized, timestamped evidence of how the work was actually made. This checklist is free and specific to where you got flagged, suspended, or terminated; picking a situation below shows the real evidence that gets these reversed, based on each platform’s own policies and real cases, not a generic template. When you’re ready, Pro formats it into a ready-to-send packet.

Adobe has no formal appeal form — the real path is a targeted support request that matches the exact reason they cited. Generic appeal letters get ignored; specific ones matched to the checkbox or policy involved get read.

First, figure out which situation you're actually in: (1) the asset was AI-made but a checkbox was missed, or (2) it’s not AI-made and was falsely flagged. These need different evidence — don’t send a denial if the fix is just a checkbox.

If it's genuinely AI-made but mislabeled

  • 1Confirm whether “Created using generative AI tools” was checked at submission — this single box causes most of these rejections.
  • 2If it shows a face or person-like figure, check whether “People and Property are fictional” was also checked — a missing release is often really a missing fictional-person checkbox.

If it's not AI-made and was falsely flagged

  • 1Your original layered source file (PSD) or RAW camera file — the single strongest thing you can attach. Contributors who keep these win these disputes; those who don’t have the hardest time.
  • 2Camera EXIF metadata, if it's a photo — proves real camera, lens, and settings were used. Most photo files carry this by default; check before you strip it on export.
  • 3A specific, factual account of your process — software, technique, time spent. “I didn't use AI” convinces no one; “shot on a Canon R6, edited in Lightroom, here's the RAW” does.
Genuine IP/trademark/logo rejections and quality rejections (anatomy, artifacts) are not disputable — the free tool below tells you honestly if that's your situation instead of generating a letter that won't work.

Etsy's Creativity Standards review lets you submit up to 12 photos or videos as evidence, with a decision in 10-12 business days. It wants a process story, not a defense statement.

  • 1Progress photos across multiple stages — not just the finished piece. A single hero shot looks identical to a stock/AI image; a sequence doesn't.
  • 2Sketches, pattern pieces, or software screenshots with visible timestamps (layers panel in Procreate, history panel in Photoshop).
  • 3A short timelapse or video, if you have one — this is the single most convincing format Etsy reviewers see.
  • 4Workspace and materials photos, and close-ups showing handmade imperfections or tool marks a mass-produced or AI item wouldn't have.
  • 5A written description specific to your process — generic marketing copy reads the same as a dropshipped listing to Etsy's systems.
Don't have progress photos from before the listing went up? Photograph the making of your next item now — it's the fastest way to build a defensible record for future flags.

KDP doesn't want evidence alone — it wants a formal Plan of Action. This is exactly what a $500+ Amazon-appeal attorney sells: a specific structure, not a plea. Skip the structure and even real evidence gets ignored.

  • 1Calm acknowledgment of the issue and its impact — even if you believe it's a mistake. An emotional or accusatory tone actively hurts your case with Amazon's reviewers.
  • 2A clear, specific root-cause explanation — what actually happened, in one or two sentences.
  • 3Corrective actions already taken — fixed the AI-disclosure checkbox, corrected metadata, revised the file.
  • 4Preventive measures going forward — what you'll do differently so it doesn't recur.
  • 5Supporting evidence: timestamped drafts/outline, Google Docs or Word version history, correspondence with any co-writer or editor, and your AI-disclosure record if AI was used.
  • 6Submit as a PDF (preserves metadata) in a professional, error-free tone.
If the book genuinely is AI-generated and wasn't disclosed, this isn't a dispute — the honest move is checking the AI-content box and resubmitting, not a Plan of Action. The tool below tells you which situation you're in.

There's no institution here — no formal reviewer, just your client's judgment, which makes this the least-served situation online today. What actually works is the same evidence courts and platforms respond to, adapted to a direct, calm reply.

  • 1Your document's version history — File > Version History in Google Docs, or Track Changes history in Word. Most people already have this without realizing it's their strongest possible evidence.
  • 2Earlier drafts, outlines, or notes with timestamps showing the piece developed over time.
  • 3Any back-and-forth with the client during the work — emails, Slack, messages — showing iteration and feedback, not a single finished file appearing all at once.
  • 4A calm, factual response, not a defensive denial — offer to walk through the version history live if it would help.
If AI genuinely was used and wasn't disclosed, this isn't a "prove your innocence" situation — the honest move is disclosing now, not fabricating a denial. The tool below will say so plainly rather than draft an excuse.

Redbubble has no published AI-specific policy — “AI” isn’t named anywhere in its Community and Content Guidelines. In practice, AI-related takedowns get charged under the existing rules: copyright/trademark infringement (style mimicry of a named artist, a copyrighted character) or the “non-original content” suspension ground (mass-produced reproductions, stock images, template packs — the bucket AI art often falls into).

If it's a copyright/trademark/style claim

  • 1Your original source file (PSD/AI), not a reference image — shows the work is genuinely yours.
  • 2Confirm the design doesn’t depict a copyrighted character, logo, or a named artist’s recognizable style — or document how it meaningfully differs.

If it's a "non-original content" flag

  • 1Your working file with layer/edit history, or process screenshots.
  • 2A factual account of how the design was made — and why it isn’t a stock image, template, or reproduction.
Appeals go through a help-center ticket, must be filed within 60 days, and take up to 2 weeks to review. Redbubble often won’t detail the exact reason — the free tool below builds a case covering the likely ground rather than guessing.

Shutterstock doesn’t run a disclosure or tagging system for AI content — it flatly doesn’t allow AI-generated submissions from contributors at all. The real objection behind a rejection or account closure is almost always unverifiable ownership/provenance, not a missing label.

If your content was misflagged (it isn't AI)

  • 1Original RAW camera file or layered source (PSD) — the strongest proof this wasn’t AI-generated.
  • 2Camera EXIF metadata, if it's a photo — proves a real camera and settings were used.

If your account was closed and it's an ownership dispute

  • 1Copyright registration, if you have one, for the affected content.
  • 2Raw/original files or a licensing chain showing you hold the rights to submit this content.
If the content genuinely is AI-generated, this isn't currently disputable under Shutterstock's policy — the tool below will say so honestly rather than draft an appeal that won't work. Appeals go to compliance@shutterstock.com, subject “Account Appeal.”

Check a listing before it gets flagged

Paste a listing or book description before you publish. We check it against Etsy, Amazon KDP and Adobe Stock AI rules, flag what could get it removed, and give you the exact disclosure wording. Runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

Not about hiding it

Disclosing beats surprising them later

84% of clients say they want AI use labeled, but only 20% of agencies always do it (source). Clients who feel misled rarely complain — they quietly stop hiring you. A short factual record costs you almost nothing; getting caught costs the relationship.

Contracts are catching up

A record clients can verify

Updated industry framework agreements are already adding standard AI-disclosure clauses. Having a dated statement ready means you're ahead of that requirement, not scrambling when a client asks for one.

If it's ever questioned

A dated record, not a guess

"I always disclose" is hard to prove after the fact. A timestamped statement for every deliverable means you have an actual answer if a client, an auditor, or a future dispute asks.

Not about hiding it

Disclosing beats getting caught

Stripping metadata or hiding AI use isn't a strategy — platforms scan for it, and buyers report it. Disclosing correctly, once, is faster than an appeal after a takedown.

Every platform, different rules

One tool, the right wording each time

Etsy wants a toggle and "Designed by." Amazon ties it to AI-generated people in images. Redbubble and Merch by Amazon each phrase it differently. You shouldn't have to memorize all four.

If it's ever questioned

A dated record, not a guess

"I always disclose" is hard to prove after the fact. A timestamped record for every listing means you have an actual answer if a buyer, a platform, or an appeal review asks.

Why I built this

I'm Boby — I built DisclosureTrail myself after seeing how often "did you use AI on this?" catches freelancers, agencies, and marketplace sellers off guard with no good answer ready. This isn't a compliance guarantee and it won't claim to be one — it's a straightforward, dated record of what you actually did, so you have a real answer when it's asked. It's new and small on purpose; if something's missing or wrong, email me directly and I'll fix it.
